You too can play a key role! When we band together, we can have a powerful impact on the direction of ocean-related issues. HOST is looking for those who are willing to rise to the challenge, and to volunteer and make a difference in shaping policies and procedures to keep Hawaii's ocean safe and pollution free.

There are numerous subcommittees which can use your expertise:

Anchorages: Addresses all anchorages, including ship anchorages, to ensure safe operations.

Pilotage: Addresses operational aspects of bringing larger vessels into port or anchorage.

Diving: Assures timely and effective reponse to SCUBA-related incidents.

Small Passenger and Recreational Vessel: Addresses issues involving small vessels carrying passengers for hire or recreation, including thrill craft, kayaks, canoes, etc.

Rescue/Emergency Response: Accesses federal, state and private resources in responding to mariner distress.

Fishery: Addresses safety of fishermen in Hawaiian waters.

Hazardous Materials: Addresses the maritime shipment of explosives, poisons, and other dangerous chemicals.

Communications: Disseminates HOST's recommendations to appropriate audiences.

Marine Debris: Addresses prevention and mitigation of marine debris on Hawaii's beaches and water.

Ocean Racing and Recreation: Addresses issues involving ocean racing.

Mamala Bay Operations: Addresses operational parameters of ocean activities within Mamala Bay.

Oahu Operations: Addresses operational parameters of ocean activities within Honolulu County outside of Malama Bay.

Maui Operations: Addresses operational parameters of ocean activities within Maui County

Kona Operations: Addresses operational parameters of ocean activities along the Kona Coast of the Big Island.

Hilo Operations: Addresses operational parameters of ocean activities along the Hilo Coast of the Big Island.

Kauai Operations: Addresses operational parameters of ocean activities within Kauai County.
